颜值更重要还是身材更重要？

It’s a classic question that every woman wants to ask their boyfriend. Of course, he would prefer both. However, only a small number of women are blessed with Victoria’s Secret model genes.

这是一个老生常谈的问题，每个妹子都想这样问她们的男友。当然咯，他肯定喜欢两者兼具！但是，只有很少一部分女性能够像维秘模特一样具有天使面孔魔鬼身材。

My friend Richard recently broke up with his girlfriend, Karen. They had been seeing each other for three months but didn’t live together. One day, they went for a massage together. Richard changed and was ready for the massage, but couldn’t find Karen. He looked everywhere, not realizing that she was sitting on a sofa quite close to where he stood.

我的朋友理查德最近和他女友卡伦分手了。他们已经交往了3个月，但是却并没有同居。有一天他们一起去做按摩。理查德换好了衣服准备按摩，但是他却找不到卡伦。他到处都找遍了，却没有意识到卡伦就坐在他附近的一个沙发上。

Karen spotted him and called him over. There was a 30-second pause from Richard’s side when he went; he had never seen her without makeup. He tried to act normal, but his face said it all.

卡伦发现了理查德，叫他过来。理查德走过去之后懵逼了30秒——他从未见过卡伦不化妆的样子！尽管他试着表现正常，但是他的脸色已经说明了一切。

He told us later that Karen always wore thick fake eyelashes and colored contacts to make her eyes look bigger and more attractive. But when the magic was removed, her eyes looked dull and small. He also complained that her body was not toned enough and tried to explain that he didn’t break up with her because he saw her real face.

后来他对我们说，卡伦总是戴着厚厚的假睫毛和美瞳，从而让自己的眼睛看起来更大更吸引人。但是卸妆之后，她的眼睛其实非常小、呆滞无神。他还抱怨卡伦的身材不够好，并且试图解释自己并不是因为卡伦的颜值抱歉才和她分手的。

I once read an article that said, nowadays, some women wouldn’t let their boyfriends see their real face. They wear concealer even when they go to bed and get up earlier so that they have enough time to put on some makeup before he wakes up. Looking perfect means a lot to them. They are easily affected by the current standards set on beauty. They go to extremes in search of a unified and recognized image of beauty, and once they find it, they work hard to get and maintain it.

我曾经看过一篇文章，说现今一些女性不会让他们的男友看到自己的素颜。甚至晚上睡觉时她们也会抹上遮瑕膏，早上很早起床以便于在男友起床之前有时间补妆。使自己看起来完美对她们来说很重要！她们很容易受到来自目前美丽的标准的影响。她们在寻找统一和公认的美丽面孔上走上了极端，而一旦她们找到了，就会努力得到并维持住这份美丽。

Part of the reason they behave this way is people like Richard either consciously or subconsciously impose stereotyped ideas about beauty on them. The other part of the reason is they are not confident enough about themselves and easily surrender to the whims and fancies of men.

她们之所以会这样做，部分原因是因为向理查德这一类的人，不管是有意还是无意，会将美丽的刻板印象强加在她们身上。而另一部分的原因则是女性对自己不够自信，很容易就屈服于男人的冲动和幻想。

So, instead of asking men to answer this question, women should bear in mind that the scope of beauty is getting broader and broader. Only when they really appreciate their own beauty, will they become more confident.

因此，女人们不应该叫男人回答这个问题，而是要在心里面记住美丽的范围正变得越来越广。只有当女人真正懂得欣赏自己的美丽之后，她们才会变得更加自信。

We don’t want to see similar beautiful faces on the street, looking like products from the same assembly line.

Don’t label yourself a certain kind of woman. Be the woman that gets to decide who you are and how you should look. Being different is beautiful; being confident is beautiful; being real is beautiful.

不要给自己贴上是某种女人的标签。你应该成为那种自己决定自己是谁、自己决定自己是什么样子的女人。与众不同就是美、充满自信就是美、真实不虚就是美！

There is no reason to hide your real appearance. Love yourself and be proud of who you really are.

没有理由隐藏起你真实的外表。爱你自己、并为真实的你而骄傲吧！
